Frequently asked questions
›Is this word search maker free?
Yes. You can make, print and download word searches with answer keys for free, with no account needed.
›How do I make my own word search?
Type a title and your words, one per line. Pick a difficulty, shape or puzzle style, then press Print or Download PDF. The preview updates as you type.
›Can I include an answer key?
Yes. "Include answer key page" is on by default. Printing or downloading the PDF adds a second page with every word highlighted.
›What is a hidden message word search?
After every word is found, the unused letters (read left to right, top to bottom) spell a secret message. Type your message and press "Auto-fit grid" so the leftover cells match its length.
›What are bent or elbow word searches?
In an elbow word search each word turns one right-angle corner. In a bent (snake) word search words can turn several times. Both are much harder than straight-line puzzles.
›Can I share my puzzle?
Yes. "Copy share link" makes a link that recreates the exact same puzzle, so students or family can open it on any device.
